Nova Scotia to the polls

9 June. This is a Canadian province and FPTP jurisdiction that has had somewhat “anomalous” outcomes in the past (click ‘N.S.’ above for a discussion around the last election), yet no major push (that I know of) for electoral reform. Unlike BC, for example.

  1. This is old news by now, but the province of Nova Scotia recently had an election in which they voted for their first ever New Democratic Party government, and a majority at that.

An article in The Globe and Mail gives a number of perspectives on what brought the party to power in the province.

[Thanks for the note; as this is not a news blog, the age of a story is never a problem. I did edit the comment, however, to embed the link, per the blog comment policy. –MSS]
