Typical comparativist, forgetting about the presidential elections of 1824, 1876, and (arguably) 1960 (with 1800 being narrowly averted). 🙂 LikeLike Reply
I would not consider any of those coups, though I suppose a case could be made for 1876. 1800 was an interesting one, which could have killed off the young republic just as it was getting started.
