It was a thriller, a tense game, in doubt to the last pitch. Cuba 4, Puerto Rico 3. The Cuban team will be in San Diego for the semi-final against the Dominican Republic Saturday (weather permitting; heavy rain is forecast).

Am I the only one who’s annoyed that each of the groups a separate semi-final? That eliminates from the start the possibility of a Japan/US final, or a Cuba/Dominican final. I’d much rather see the leader of Group 1 play the runner-up from Group 2, and vice versa.
I know that they wanted to have them on opposite sides of the country, but I think the World Cup of Hockey managed well with combined semi-finals.
