Estado de México elections

In Mexico’s largest state, which shares the name of the country and is often referred to as “Edomex,” the PRI-Green alliance won 53 of the mayorships in Sunday’s election, against 36 for the PRD (including alliances in some municipalities) and 28 for the PAN (including alliances).

The PRD won Ecatepec, a large suburb across the state line from Mexico City (where the PRD presidential candidate, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was jefe del Distrito Federal).

In the single-member districts for the state legislature, the PRI won 19 (down from 24), the PRD 17 (up from 10), and the PAN 9 (down from 11). Votes in these districts are aggregated for the allocation of party-lst seats, but those results are not immediately available.
